Validation and Verification
Our Pillars of Integrity
At The Planet Reserve, we uphold the highest standards of environmental integrity and transparency. Our validation and verification processes are cornerstone practices that ensure every project within our registry meets and maintains rigorous environmental and sustainability criteria. This process is conducted by a third party, approved by The Planet Reserve, called the Validation and Verification body(VVB).
Validation
Laying the Foundation
Validation is the critical first step in our project lifecycle. It's where independent third-party bodies meticulously assess proposed projects againstTPR's stringent standards. This phase confirms the project's potential for meaningful environmental impact, its adherence to TPR principles, and its feasibility for successful implementation. After validation has been concluded, the project proponent may submit the project for registration with the respective TPR program.
Verification
Ensuring Continuous Excellence
Verification is the ongoing process that keeps the promise of validated projects alive. Post-implementation,The VVBs conduct regular assessments to confirm that projects continue to deliver the expected environmental benefits. This stage is about accountability, ensuring that every credit issued represents a tangible, verified unit of environmental impact.
Accreditation by TPR for VVBs
Rigorous Fulfilling Program Criteria
VVBs are required to meet specific regulations and standards as detailed in the relevant section of the TPR Standard. This includes possessing the appropriate expertise, resources, and operational procedures necessary for thorough validation and verification audits under TPR guidelines.
Application and Authorization Process
VVBs must submit an application to an accreditation body recognized by TPR, to obtain the necessary authorization. This process also involves executing a formal contract with The planet reserve registry.
Continuous Compliance
VVBs must consistently follow the standards and methods endorsed by TPR to ensure ongoing excellence and thoroughness in their audit processes. This commitment helps uphold the integrity and efficacy of carbon project auditing under the TPR framework.
Nature-based Climate Action (NbCA) Program
Successful verification against the NBCA Standards attests to a project's climate, community, and biodiversity benefits for a designated period. Additionally, verification allows for the application of an NBCA label to credits produced during that time frame.
During the validation and verification stages, VVBs conduct thorough assessments of projects against the standards and program rules of the Nature Based Climate Action (NBCA).
VVBs, which can be based in any part of the globe, are qualified to offer validation and verification services for the NBCA Program if they fulfill the requirements specified in the NBCA Program Rules.
Industrial Sustainable Practices (ISP) Program
During the validation and verification processes, Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) meticulously evaluate projects according to the Industrial Sustainable Practices Program rules and the specific methodologies employed.
VVBs, which can be based anywhere globally, are qualified to offer validation and verification services for the Industrial Sustainable Practices Program, provided they meet several criteria: they must be accredited by a Industrial Sustainable Practices- recognized accreditation body, authorized by The Planet Reserve and have entered into the necessary agreements with The Planet Reserve.
VVBs are also responsible for conducting detailed evaluations of methodologies used in the Industrial Sustainable Practices Program, ensuring they align with the program's requirements and the best practices specific to the industry. The VVBs engaged for a project must satisfy the eligibility requirements detailed in the Industrial Sustainable Practices Standard. They must also possess the necessary accreditations or approvals for all the sectoral scopes relevant to the project's methodologies, ensuring comprehensive coverage if the methodologies span multiple sectoral scopes.
